Dentistry for Kids dentists are members of the American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association. Additionally, all of the DFK Dentists are Board Certified.
Dr. Tom Jackson received his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College, then attended the University of Pennsylvania Dental School.
He completed his residency at the Children’s Hospital of Boston/ Harvard University. He is Board Certified. Dr. Tom has been meeting the dental care needs of hundreds of Pittsburgh area patients and building the Dentistry For Kids practice for years.
He now enjoys seeing those (grown) patients come back with their children! When he’s not working, Dr. Tom enjoys cheering for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish, renovating old houses and traveling.
Dr. Matt Price grew up in Rochester, New York, attended University of Notre Dame and the State University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Pediatric Dental Residency program at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, where he received advanced training in trauma management and care of the special needs population. Dr. Matt is one of the DFK partners, and has helped serve Pittsburgh area families (and build the practice) for the past 16 years. He is Board Certified.
Dr. Matt is married (to Dr. Allison), and has three kids and “a crazy beagle.” He loves Pittsburgh, cheering for the Fighting Irish, spending time with his family, golfing and mountain biking.
Dr. Hoak grew up in Greensburg, PA. A graduate of Penn State University, she attended The Ohio State University Dental School.
She practiced general dentistry in Columbus for two years before joining the Indian Health Service in 1998, working for the IHS in Shiprock, NM and Anadarko, OK before starting her residency in 1998 at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. She joined Doctors Jackson and Price at DFK in July, 2000. She is Board Certified. She is a fan of The Penn State Nittany Lions and all of the Pittsburgh teams.
When she’s not working, she enjoys skiing and traveling to places like Kiawah, SC with her husband and two children.
Dr. Allison Price is originally from Rochester, NY. She attended the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and trained at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital.
She received advanced training in the areas of pain and trauma management during her general practice residency. She has worked with Dentistry for Kids since September, 2004 and loves working with the patients and DFK staff. She is Board Certified. She is married to Dr. Matt Price, and they have three children: Dani, Andrew and Erin.
When she’s not working, Dr. Allison enjoys reading, playing with the kids, gardening and walking Marley (the crazy beagle).
Dr. Kelly grew up moving around the world, before her family settled in the Washington D.C. area. She earned her undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary and continued her studies at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry at VCU.
After graduating from dental school, she completed a general practice residency in New York City. She then practiced as a general dentist for 2 years in the D.C. area. Having been a child who received lots of dental care herself, she naturally gravitated toward pediatrics. She continued her studies in Case Western Reserve University's pediatric dental residency. While attending CWRU and serving as the Chief Resident, Dr. Kelly gained specialized training in overall oral health, child growth and development, dental trauma, sedation/anesthesia and patients with special health care needs.She is Board Certified. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, volunteering, golfing and traveling.
Dr. Amy attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for undergraduate studies to receive dual baccalaureate B.A. and B.S. degrees and remained in Las Vegas to complete her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. She continued her training at UNLV’s Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program. During her two-year residency, she gained experience in children’s growth and development, sedation techniques, and care for the special needs population.
Dr. Amy graduated magna cum laude and has been inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and the E. Steven Smith Student Honorary Dental Society. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Beaver County Dental Society, Southern Nevada Dental Society, Nevada Dental Association and Nevada Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is Board Certified. Dr. Amy enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé, David.
Raised in Ohio, Dr. Kat attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree, The Ohio State University for a Masters of Public Health degree, and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for Dental School and Pediatric Residency. She resided in Michigan for a year after her residency and then lived in Las Vegas for four years while her husband trained as an orthodontist and completed his MBA. She and her husand (Dr. Joff, the orthodontist who works with DFK) met as classmates at Tufts University.
She enjoys cooking, travel and is learning to play golf. She speaks 2 other languages,and is excited to become a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. She and Dr. Joff are parents to baby Olivia. Dr. Kat is Board Certified.
Dr Kruti Shah was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She did her Pediatric Dental Residency and General Dentistry Residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York, NY. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA.
She has a sister and a brother, and is the oldest of many cousins. When she’s not working, she enjoys painting and catching up with friends. She’s enjoying living and working in Pittsburgh, and discovering the city. (Her current favorite restaurant is LeMonte.) She currently works at both our Monroeville and North Hills offices, and she loves working with our young patients.
